International Competitions!
Two fabulous international competitions, held on Friday 26 September and judged by our star teachers.

Soloist (Male or Female)
First prize: Full package for Shimmy in the City 2015! Four star hotel accommodation and workshops plus a performance spot in the 2015 Saturday Night All-Star Gala Show!

Troupe
First prize: A trophy and a performance place in the main 2014 Gala Show on Saturday night!

Competition Entry Fee: £20
Competition entry
You must be booked on at least one workshop to enter the competition. Troupe entries cost £20 per troupe but each member of the troupe must be booked onto at least one workshop.

Requirements
Soloist (Open to Men and Women)
Stage One: Oriental Raqs Sharqi
You will be asked to dance an Oriental Raqs Sharqi Solo (maximum four minutes) from the following categories:
Oriental Menjance
Oriental Song
Baladi
Oriental Classic
The judges will then choose three finalists who will be given time to change into folkloric costume. Please bring your music with you on CD ONLY.

Stage Two: Folkloric
The three finalists will each dance a Folkloric Solo (maximum four minutes) from the following categories:
Saida
Ghawazee
Nubian
Khaleegi
Hagalla
Fellahi
Siwa
Debke
Skanderani

The Judges will then choose First, Second and Third places. Please bring your music with you on CD ONLY.

Troupe
Troupes are required to perform one dance in an Oriental or Folkloric style or a medley of different styles. Maximum four minutes.
There will be just one stage of voting.

Judging Criteria
Performers in all categories will be judged on technique, musical interpretation, performance skills and presentation. Solo categories are open to Professional dancers only. Clarification on Folkloric criteria will be sent with the Competition Entry Form and the Judges decision will be final.

When and Where
The Competition starts at 10.30am and will be held in the Arnhem Gallery of the Fairfield Halls, to the right of the Main Foyer. Please arrive by 9.30am with your CD.Everyone is welcome to come along and watch the competition and support the dancers. The winners will be announced at the evening show.
